Rumor Roundup (Dec. 29, 2017): John Cena WrestleMania match, Dean Ambrose, Jason Jordan, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Rumors for the Day:

  • In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted by Dave Meltzer that he was told rumors of a John Cena vs. AJ Styles match for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 34 are incorrect. Further, he said Cena is in a “much bigger match” than Styles and it will be clear what that match will be in a few weeks.
  • Dean Ambrose was heavily figured into post-WrestleMania plans but that obviously changes with his injury, according to the Observer.
  • Speaking of that injury, Dave Meltzer is saying the timeline is likely not a WWE exaggeration.
  • Also, Jason Jordan’s heel turn has been put on hold while he’s teaming with Seth Rollins as the Raw tag team champions but it’s likely still in the plans for later.
  • Per the Observer, New Japan is looking at doing more in the United States but that likely won’t be happening anytime soon.
